GENERAL ADMISSIONS CRITERIA FOR 2026
The minimum admissions requirement is a National Senior
Certificat e (NSC) Bachelors passan achievement rating of 4
(adequate achievement 50-59%) or better in four subjects
chosen from the recognised 20 credit NSC subjects (known as
the designated subject list).

GETTING READY TO APPLY
Make sure you have the following documentation and information
with you before you start your online application: ID/Passport
number, valid email address, active cell numbers, school address,
contact details of your parent/guardian. Please make sure your
email and cell number is entered correctly.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements are the minimum academic standards that the
University requires in order to consider you for entry into one of our
degree programmes. Meeting the minimum requirements does not
guarantee you a place. Competition for most of our degrees is high
and demand for places generally exceeds the number of available
space. Final selection is made subject to the availability of space in a
specific programme, academic results and other entry requirements
where applicable.

STARTING YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION
Start your application by going to the online application portal
on the university website, and creating a new application. If you
are a current matriculant you must select “Undergraduate
Programme’’. Make sure your email address and cell number are
correct as UWC will communicate with your via these two
methods.
Once you have completed the online form click “ACCEPT ‘’to
complete your application. For possible placement in University
Residence complete section 3.
SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

You will receive an acknowledgement letter via email confirming
your application submission. Carefully read the
acknowledgement letter. Keep your

The university will notify all current grade 12 applicants on their
final selection in January

In an affidavit a brief description of activities
post-matric/NSC
Applicants who are re-writing Grade 12 subjects,
applications will be processed on the current grade
12 results. If Grade 12 has been written more than
once then your combined results must be

Do I get credits for courses offered at colleges?
You may enquire at the relevant faculty to verify credit
applications for courses completed at another tertiary institution.

and have not been accepted?
Yes, an applicant is required to fill out another application
form for each academic year.

FAQs
About a quarter of the students at UWC are in university
residences. The Residential and Catering Services Offi ce allocates
and manages accommodation in university residences for about
5800 full-time UWC students. Applicants for places (or for
readmission to residence at the beginning of a new year) must be
in good academic and fi nancial standing and have a clean
disciplinary record. Details of what these requirements mean are
available on request.
